I’m Danielle Schury — a wedding photographer based in Bourbonnais, Illinois, and I spend a good chunk of the year shooting in Arizona and Florida. Destination work is most of what I do in my spare time, and Arizona’s Verde Valley has become something like a second home base.
That’s how I ended up at Queen B Sushi. When Maynard and Jennifer Keenan opened their sushi room in Old Town Cottonwood this fall, I had the opportunity to photograph the chefs in action along with the food itself. The kitchen is run by Brett Vibber, who spent nine years with Roka Akor before landing out here, alongside chefs Chihiro “Thomas” Kato and Sheridan “Sher” Chase. Watching that counter work is the closest thing I’ve seen to a wedding day outside of one — everything precise, everything happening at once.
